Wik: Fable of Souls Now on Live
Microsoft announced today the availability of Wik: Fable of Souls, the action / adventure game title that has taken the Internet by storm – now available for download from Xbox Live Arcade® for Xbox 360. The award-winning Reflexive Entertainment title is the latest of the most impressive entrants to the massively popular Xbox Live Arcade game portfolio.
Xbox Live Arcade, powered by Xbox Live Marketplace, is a central destination for Xbox 360 gamers to discover, download, try and buy smaller game titles directly onto their Xbox 360 console by connecting to Xbox Live. Fully integrated into the Xbox 360 console, gamers can jump straight into Xbox Live Arcade from the Xbox 360 Dashboard, where they can download new games, access their game collection, check out new releases and experience cool around-the-game features.
Winner of three awards at the 2005 Independent Games Festival including Best Art, Best Original Game Design, and Game of the Year, Wik: Fable of Souls delivers a gaming experience like no other. The adventure game sensation features seven different play modes (three of which have multiplayer functionality) and more than 120 jaw-dropping levels, enchanting atmospheric music, stunning effects, superb graphics and a unique play mechanic that centers around the main character, Wik, swinging around the world by his tongue – yes his tongue - like a cross between Tarzan and a frog catching a fly.
Nintendo Revolution
Nintendo's new gaming console code-named "Revolution" is arguably one of the better looking systems announced at this years E3 show. About the size of three stacked CD cases, the new Revolution gaming system is fairly portable and will be able to play titles originally released for Nintendo 64, the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) and even the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), downloadable using an internet connection. The Revolution will be able to support Gamecube game playback which means the internal drive support both larger CD's and the 1.8-inch discs that the Gamecube supports.
The Nintendo Revolution will feature wireless controllers and compatibility with the newly announced wireless gaming service Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. Powering the Nintendo Revolution is a custom made IBM processor and graphics provided by ATI.
Soul Calibur III to exclusively skewer PS2s
Hot on the heels of the release of Tekken 5, Namco Hometek has announced a new installment in its other flagship fighting franchise. As with previous games in the series, Soul Calibur III will feature a cast of colorful characters battling it out with a variety of weapons.
But unlike previous installments, the game will only be available for the PlayStation 2 when it arrives later this year. It will mark the first time the series has been exclusive to a single console since the first Soul Calibur was released for the Sega Dreamcast in 1999. It also marks the first time that a Soul Calibur game has been released for a console before it was released in arcades. In fact, no arcade version of Soul Calibur III has even been announced as of press time.
